In the height of summer, the rice fields in the suburban areas of Xiamen city, southeast China’s Fujian Province take on different shades of color including tender green, vibrant jade and light yellow. Viewed from above, the fields resemble a palette unfolding across the land, showcasing the romantic summer scenery of the countryside.
Scattered among green mountains and clear waters, picturesque rice fields unfold across Shangling village in Tong’an district, Tiantou village in Jimei district, and Jinbing village in Xiang’an district. Amid the resounding buzz of cicadas, the lush green rice leaves, ripening yellowish rice ears and dragonflies form an idyllic scene. As a gentle breeze sweeps across the fields, waves of rice sway rhythmically, and the rich, earthy scent of the soil drifts through the air.
